Unicorn Creek (07.18.2019) 🏞 . This very detailed emoji can be found on the trail to Elizabeth Lake near Toulumne Meadows. I mean, this pretty much matches the emoji right!? 😅 Anywho, hearing that there is snow approaching and really wishing I could see the snowfall. Can't wait to return to see Yosemite and enjoy its winter wonder! . . . #LatePost #YosemiteNP #YosemiteNationalPark #Yosemite #TuolumneMeadows #TravelYosemite #Hiking #Explore #Adventure #Nature #NationalParks #NPS #FindYourPark #OptOutside #NationalParkGeek #BornInTheMountains #NaturalCalifornia #NationalParkPhotography #Nikon #DSLR #NikonD5300 #SnapseedEdit

We got up at 4am and hiked two hours in the dark, but we made it up to the top of half dome just in time to watch the sun peek over the ridge lines

Have you ever seen a snow plant? ❄️ We saw snow plants while bike riding in Yosemite Valley and in Mariposa Grove in May. ❄️ The unusual looking snow plant pops out through thin layers of remaining snow. These striking red plants are a common Yosemite roadside attraction in the springtime. The snow plant lacks any green because it doesn’t photosynthesize, instead feeding off soil fungi. Its red color attracts hummingbirds, which feed from its bell shaped flowers. ❄️ Source: NPS ❄️ Hear Park Ranger Erik Westerlund talk about these psychedelic plants in the latest podcast episode 19.2. Photo title: 2 pink junior rangers between 2 trees. 📷 What was your favorite postcard, picture perfect capture @yosemitenps ? Share in the comments. Tag @everybodysnationalparks and we’ll post in stories. 📷 This photos was taken in Cook’s Meadow looking at Yosemite Falls. It looks fake, like the girls are sitting in front of a green screen. We took this photo during one of our bike rides through the valley—the girls’ favorite activity during our trip. 🚲 Renting bikes is a great way to explore the valley. We did this on 2 consecutive days and explored different things on each day. You can rent bikes at Curry Village or Yosemite Valley Lodge. You can rent tagalongs or trailers if needed. There are 12 miles of paved trails. 🚲 Listen to our whole trip report on Yosemite in podcast episode 19.1. Subscribe for free. Never miss an episode.

Have you ever seen Giant Sequoias? 🌲 Did you know Giant Sequoias grow in isolated groves? They only grow on the western slope of the Sierra Mountains. There are only 70 groves left! 🌲 Giant Sequoias are the biggest trees in volume, but with small cones. 🌲 Each tree has between 10-20,000 cones. The Chicaree (or Douglass) squirrel chew down up to 12,000 sequoia cones in a day. They eat the flesh. Each cone has 200 seeds the size of oats. 🌲 (Source: Ranger Lindsay Sweet on her fabulous tree walk at Mariposa Grove. @ljsweet11 ) 🌲 Listen to our whole trip report on Yosemite in podcast episode 19.1. 🧀 We think bring real EXTRA on the the trail is a GOUDA decision! Yes, we made a cheese & charcuterie plate for lunch at Panorama Point! . We got the idea because we always take hard cheese, nuts, salami, and dried fruit on hikes anyway, so we decided to take it a step further! Check our stories for all the ingredients, featuring local California cheese from @vintagecheesecompany & accoutrements from @traderjoes. . & yes, some fellow hikers found us enjoying our cheese plate on the trail & made fun of us, but we could tell they were totally jealous. 😁 If you try making a #hikingcheeseplate , tag us because we want to see it! Just remember to pack in & pack out! . Note on Panorama Point: this incredible view is unmarked & off the trail. You’ll want to look for a trail offshoot to the left, about half a mile from Illiouette Creek. I think only about 5% of Panorama hikers know this spot exists!

I came to Glacier Point hoping to photograph the Milky Way core, but it was too far to the right of this view. I snapped a few pictures and really liked the tail of the Milky Way over Half Dome! “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handiwork.” Psalm 19:1

A “MIST see” spot as long as you can do 4 hours of stairs. 🤣🌈 Views like these just fill my heart with so much thankfulness to be alive and taking in His beauty. Where’s the most jaw dropping spot you’ve been?!

Cleaned up my instagram the other day. As I went through and decided what to keep and what not to. What i'm proud of and what i'm not. I came across a lot of bad work. Work I was not proud of, but I once was. It made me realize how much I’ve learned and how far I’ve come in 3 years. Big thank you to @jjm_at_50 for teaching me the basics and sparking this creative side of me. He has always been there and supported my work he’s the one that got me started and taught me so much and provided many opportunities. Thanks to @mauckmom4life for supporting my work and creativity. She’s believed in my ability and trusted me. @wintythefrosty Thank you for always being there for me and keeping me going. You challenge me and push me to do my best, and are always down with my crazy ideas and inspire me to do more and work harder. I’ve come so far in 3 years. Won't lie and say its been easy. This is a journey and i’m far from done. I’ve learned a lot in this short amount of time and i’m only going up from here. It’s cool to reflect back on where you once were. Some things I’m doing were once a dream that people have believed in. I'm far from where I want to be but i'll be there one day. Thank you to everyone who continues to support and believe in me and my abilities. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #welivetoexplore #yosemtie #yosemitenationalpark #yosemitenps #lightroom #edits #travel #roadtrip #roadtrip2019 #california #highsierras #hiking #discoverearth #comealongway #passion #opportunity #summer #summertravel #travelphotography #travelyosemite #neverstopexploring #adventure #adventurepic #camping #campingyosemite #canonphotography #pnwphotographer #trusttheprocess

Have you ever been to @yosemitenps ? What is your favorite viewpoint? Share in the comments. 🏔 Pictured here is the view of Half Dome from Glacier Point. 🏔 Glacier Point, an overlook with a view of Yosemite Valley, Half Dome, and the High Sierra is located 30 miles (one hour) from Yosemite Valley. The road ends at Glacier Point, 3,214 feet above Curry Village, on the floor of Yosemite Valley. 🏔 Rising nearly 5,000 feet above Yosemite Valley and 8,800 feet above sea level, Half Dome is a Yosemite icon and a great challenge to many hikers. 🏔 (Source: NPS) 🏔 Listen to our whole trip report on Yosemite in podcast episode 19.1. 💎Hidden gem in Yosemite!...⁣ ⁣ 🏔Is it even possible to see tunnel view without the crowds?! ⁣ ⁣ Well good things come to those who w̶a̶i̶t̶ ... work. Good things come to those who work for it. 💪🏻 ⁣ Behind the parking lot at tunnel view is a trail called the Poncho trail. If you follow that trail you can catch this view! 😍⁣ ⁣ Follow the trail until you reach the old stagecoach road, if you go down that road it should lead you to Artist’s point and if you follow the Poncho trail you can go to old inspiration point! Both are equally beautiful! How to be a happy hiker (in no particular order): hike 9 miles from the Glacier Point to the valley. See a bear. Meet new people on the trail that think you shout 'you're almost there', instead of 'there's a bear!'. Hitchhike back up. Enjoy the view while stuffing your face with salt n vinegar chips. Eat tacos and drink coronas (substitute tea if it's cold out). See the sun set through the trees. Gaze at waterfalls. Hug a giant tree. Be in Yosemite. . #travelyosemite #travelcalifornia #wesawabear #andacoyote
