Expired Frame no. 13
[Men's Dormitory (Dormitory 1 & 2) ]
Constructed from 1903-1904
This Building is the earliest of the major structures still standing on the property, as well as being the first building built. Constructed of brick and dark gray fieldstone found on the property, it is a long rectangular building measuring 154 feet by 49 feet. Although the building is only one full story in height, the tall basement and prominent attic level gave the building an impressive appearance.
The main entry facade of the building is located at the western end of the building, and the entryway would be once marked by a projecting portico with a triglyph and metope frieze carried on Tuscan columns.
My second personal favorite from my expedition, this photograph was taken looking SW at a doorway to the basement level, now exposed as the floor above has long collapsed. Image corrected for motion blur, as the camera was hand held for an exposure of 1 second at ISO 100 due to the light sensitiveness of the expired film.
